Tim Black 100th Birthday Celebration: Bronzeville Past and Promise

Come celebrate the life and legacy of living Bronzeville legend Tim Black, with cake and other festivities, hosted by long time resident and community advocate Bernard Loyd, as well as featured guests Patric McCoy and Sandria Washington.
All events on Sunday will begin and end at Boxville (51st and the Green line).

The week of 8/12, Urban Juncture is recognizing Bronzeville art, history, and community with a week-long celebration of the legacy of acclaimed Bronzeville artist Charles White, and centenarian Timuel Black, an acclaimed Bronzeville educator, historian and activist, who will be our featured guest.
Events are planned throughout the week of 8/12 starting at the re-opening of the Wednesday Evening Markets at Boxville 8/15, and will conclude at Boxville on Sunday, 8/19, with a birthday party celebrating the 100th year of both Tim Black and Charles White.
Events include a talk with Tim Black on Wednesday evening, a free visit to the Art Institute of Chicago to view the Charles White exhibit on Thursday evening, and both bike and walking tours through Bronzeville on Sunday afternoon!
